چکیده

Date palm(Phoenix dactylifera)is commercially propagated through offshoots. Alongwith thisrooted offshootthe tree also produces aerial offshoots, which arerootlessand die after plantation. In this study attempts have been made to evaluate the effect of auxins on root initiation offshootsof date palm cv. Hillawi. Therefore, an experiment was conducted theeffect IAA (500 ppm), NAA(500 alone and in combination offshoots Hillawi. The were applied shoots by injection method. laid out according Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four treatments(Control, 500pmm IAA, 500ppm NAA IAA+NAA) andeach treatment replicatedthrice.Injection method used apply hormones applicationof auxinsthe base each offshoot wrapped carefully gunny bags having pinewood shaving as rooting media. After 40 days supplication, offshootswere detached, and parameters collected. Dataindicated that @ gave highest percentage (24.5%), total number roots per (82.33) weight (607.4g) compared other treatments. Similarly, a greaternumber smaller (dia<0.5cm) achieved treated NAA. Hence, it may be concluded remarkablein at concentration comparison

Genome sequence of the date palm Phoenix dactylifera L

Date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) is a cultivated woody plant species with agricultural and economic importance. Here we report a genome assembly for an elite variety (Khalas), which is 605.4 Mb in size and covers >90% of the genome (~671 Mb) and >96% of its genes (~41,660 genes). Genomic sequence analysis demonstrates that P. dactylifera experienced a clear genome-wide duplication after eithe...

Isolation of Pathogenic Bacillus circulans from Callus Cultures and Healthy Offshoots of Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.).

Pure cultures of a gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium, which produced endospores after 3 to 5 days on solid medium, were isolated exclusively from tissue cultures of the date palm Phoenix dactylifera L. Electron microscopic examination of thin sections of the bacteria revealed the bilayer membrane typical of gramnegative bacteria and confirmed the nature of the spores as true endospores. Bioch...

Socio-economic characterisation of date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) growers and date value chains in Pakistan

Increasing food production to feed its rapidly growing population is a major policy goal of Pakistan. The production of traditional staples such as rice (Oryza sativa L.) and bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) has been intensified in many regions, but not in remote, drought-ridden areas. In these arid, marginal environments dates and their by-products are an option to complement staples given t...

A simplified Protocol to Induce Callogenesis in Protoplasts of Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) Cultivars

Background: In Algeria, date palm is currently confronted to the Bayoud disease. Biotechnological tools such as protoplasts fusion can appear as an alternative to ensure rapid multiplication and improvement of this species. Objectives: Callogenesis induction in protoplasts isolated from embryogenic callus of three date palm cultivars. Materials and Methods: Some factors influencing the isolatio...
